Redefining Luxury at Sopwell House Hotel
EP Consulting executed an £8 million remodelling and extension of the spa facilities at Sopwell House Hotel in St Albans, Hertfordshire, creating two luxurious areas: Cottonmill and The Club at Cottonmill.
Scope of Work
Our comprehensive role in this prestigious project included full mechanical and electrical design for the revamped spa facilities. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.
The new Cottonmill area features an indoor pool, two vitality pools, a state-of-the-art gym and exercise studio, a sauna, a steam room, a poolside terrace, and the Rose Relaxation Room. The Club at Cottonmill introduces new spa gardens, a Garden Room, a Whisper Room, and a Deep Relaxation Room.
Challenges and Solutions
The large-scale remodelling required integrating modern facilities with existing structures while maintaining luxury and functionality. Our team addressed these challenges by designing and implementing advanced mechanical and electrical systems that supported both areas’ sophisticated requirements. Detailed planning and coordination ensured the seamless integration of new amenities with minimal disruption during construction.
Results and Impact
The new spa facilities at Sopwell House Hotel now offer an unparalleled luxury experience with state-of-the-art amenities. This project demonstrates EP Consulting’s expertise in delivering high-end mechanical and electrical design solutions and our commitment to excellence in sustainable design together with enhancing the overall guest experience.
