Sleaford Leisure Centre, an Award-Winning Transformation

EP Consulting played a pivotal role in the £2.85m refurbishment and extension of Sleaford Leisure Centre in Lincolnshire. This project transformed the facility, adding a health suite, fitness suite, multipurpose studio, and updated changing rooms, toilets, showers, and office space. The centre was awarded "Highly Commended" by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors East Midlands and won the Greenbuild Awards for Non-Domestic Retrofit.

Scope of Work

We provided feasibility studies, budget costing, and comprehensive mechanical and electrical design. Our team integrated renewable energy solutions, utilising a district heating system powered by the town's straw-burning plant, which supplies all the building's heat and energy. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.

Challenges and Solutions

The 40-week project required innovative solutions to blend new technologies with the existing structure. We implemented a sophisticated energy strategy, including the district heating system, ensuring the centre operates efficiently and sustainably.
