Transforming Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre with Green Energy Solutions

EP Consulting played a vital role in the £4m refurbishment and extension of Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre in Mansfield. This major upgrade expanded the facility with two swimming pools, a gymnasium, fitness suite, and essential amenities, incorporating advanced renewable energy systems.

Scope of Work

We delivered full building services engineering, including feasibility studies, budget costing, and both mechanical and electrical design. Our work involved integrating renewable energy solutions, specifically an 800kW biomass boiler and a 200kW ground source heat pump. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.

Challenges and Solutions

The 40-week project required seamless integration of extensive systems into the existing structure. We met this challenge by designing efficient, high-performance solutions that balanced sustainability with functionality, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to regulatory standards.
