Transforming North Kesteven Leisure Centre, a £3.6m Modernisation Project

EP Consulting led the innovative £3.6m refurbishment of North Kesteven Leisure Centre in Lincoln. This comprehensive project transformed the sports centre with two state-of-the-art multi-purpose activity studios, a modernised reception, a revamped theatre lounge and bar area, a new changing village, and upgraded dry changing rooms with private cubicles and showers. Additionally, we relocated the café to the ground floor and the gym to the second floor, while refurbishing all pools and viewing areas.

Scope of Work

Our team conducted feasibility studies, budget costing, and advanced mechanical and electrical design. We spent £1m upgrading air conditioning, heating, and lighting, integrating renewable energy solutions to boost efficiency. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.

Challenges and Solutions

The 60-week project, executed over five phases, required precise coordination to minimise disruption. The highlight was installing the UK's first interactive flume, featuring multi-coloured touchpads, selectable themes, and speed logging.
