Energy Efficient Heating and Power at Hood Park Leisure Centre
This £1.6m refurbishment of Hood Park Leisure Centre in Ashby-de-la-Zouch upgraded key systems and included the installation of a combined heat and power unit to provide efficient heating and electricity for the facility.
Scope of Work
We conducted feasibility studies, budget costing, and provided detailed mechanical and electrical designs. Our scope included replacing the boiler and air handling plants in the main pool hall. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.
Challenges and Solutions
The 36-week project required meticulous planning to integrate new systems into the existing infrastructure. We overcame challenges by installing a combined heat and power unit, which streamlined energy use and reduced operational costs while ensuring high standards of performance and regulatory compliance.
Results and Impact
Hood Park Leisure Centre now benefits from enhanced energy efficiency and modernised facilities. EP Consulting’s engineering solutions have significantly improved the centre’s sustainability and functionality, providing a more efficient and reliable environment for users.
