Chelmsford Citadel Corps Award-Winning Worship Hall and Community Centre
EP Consulting was instrumental in the £3.5m Chelmsford Citadel Corps project, a new build worship hall and community centre in Essex. Recognised as the RIBA Building of the Year and RIBA East 'Spirit of Ingenuity Building of the Decade,' our role as building services engineers was crucial to its success.
Scope of Work
Our services included feasibility studies, budget costing, and the design of mechanical and electrical systems. We also implemented renewable energy solutions. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations. Working with Hudson Architects, we provided comprehensive design and engineering solutions to support the hall's functionality and sustainability.
Challenges and Solutions
The project's tight 48-week timeline demanded efficient integration of advanced mechanical and electrical systems while meeting stringent regulatory standards. We tackled these challenges by optimising energy efficiency and thermal performance, seamlessly aligning with the architectural design.
Results and Impact
The Chelmsford Citadel Corps now stands as a premier community facility, showcasing our expertise in building services engineering. Our contributions helped achieve significant accolades and demonstrated our commitment to delivering high-performance, sustainable engineering solutions.
