Tibshelf M1 North, a £2.1m Roadchef Services Conversion
EP Consulting played a key role in the development of the new £2.1 million Roadchef motorway services at Tibshelf, located at M1 North & South Junction 28. This project includes two amenity blocks and two 50-bed Travelodges, significantly enhancing convenience and comfort for travellers on one of the UK’s busiest motorways.
Scope of Work
Our team carried out feasibility studies and budget costing, providing comprehensive mechanical and electrical design services. The project featured advanced HVAC systems and energy-efficient lighting to ensure optimal functionality across the two amenity blocks and Travelodge hotels. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.
Challenges and Solutions
The main challenge was to maximise energy efficiency while integrating sustainable materials and technologies throughout the site. EP Consulting’s expertise enabled us to seamlessly integrate mechanical and electrical systems with the existing motorway infrastructure, minimising disruption during construction and enhancing the facility’s overall performance.
Results and Impact
The new Roadchef motorway services at Tibshelf provide travellers with a comfortable and efficient stopover, featuring state-of-the-art amenities and accommodations. EP Consulting’s commitment to sustainable design has resulted in a facility that meets modern standards. This project highlights our dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure that improves user experience and supports sustainable practices.
