Blidworth Fire Station Refurbishment, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service
EP Consulting is proud to have played a key role in the £900k refurbishment of Blidworth Fire Station for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, enhancing the facility to better serve the community.
Scope of Work
This extensive refurbishment project involved upgrading the entire fire station, which serves both whole-time and retained firefighters. Key improvements included the refurbishment of the covered appliance bays, support accommodation, fire kit room, showers and changing rooms, general offices, gymnasium, training room, cleaners and general stores, kitchen, communications room, breathing apparatus (BA) preparation area, and RT compound. A new photovoltaic array was also installed to improve the station’s energy efficiency.
Challenges and Solutions
EP Consulting delivered comprehensive M&E services, including feasibility studies, budget costing, and detailed mechanical and electrical design. Ensuring compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations was crucial, and we incorporated renewable energy solutions to support sustainability goals. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency and created a BRUKL report while managing the complexities of refurbishing an operational fire station.
Results and Impact
The refurbished Blidworth Fire Station now features modern amenities and advanced facilities that support the operational needs of both whole-time and retained firefighters. The integration of energy-efficient solutions and renewable technologies enhances the station's operational efficiency and aligns with environmental standards.
The project, managed by Focus Consultants, was completed within 18 weeks, demonstrating EP Consulting’s dedication to providing high-quality, sustainable M&E solutions.
