Edwinstowe Fire Station Conversion, M&E Services & Facility Upgrade
EP Consulting delivered essential M&E services for the £1.5m conversion of Edwinstowe Fire Station, transforming it into a fully operational whole-time single pump station.
Scope of Work
The project involved converting the existing retained fire station and refurbishing the adjacent annexe building to create a cohesive facility. Key upgrades included the addition of a covered appliance bay, support accommodation, gymnasium, training room, and various office and storage areas.
Our work encompassed feasibility studies, budget costing, and comprehensive mechanical and electrical design. It also included the integration of renewable energy solutions. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report, and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.
Challenges and Solutions
The main challenge was transforming and expanding an existing fire station while maintaining operational efficiency. Our team meticulously planned and executed the conversion, integrating new systems and refurbishing existing structures. By carefully coordinating the refurbishment and new construction, we ensured minimal disruption to fire station operations and efficiently achieved the project goals.
Results and Impact
Completed in 36 weeks, the upgraded Edwinstowe Fire Station now offers improved functionality and sustainability. The modernised facility better supports the operational needs of Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, providing enhanced workspaces and facilities that contribute to overall efficiency and effectiveness.
