Lincolnshire Police Record Storage Facility, Gainsborough
EP Consulting played a key role in the £120k conversion project at Lincolnshire Police in Gainsborough, transforming outdated garages and a gymnasium into a modern record storage facility.
Scope of Work
EP Consulting provided a comprehensive suite of services, including feasibility studies, budget costing, and detailed mechanical and electrical design. The project featured the installation of an FM200 extinguishing system, which is well-suited for protecting sensitive records due to its clean agent fire suppression. We also integrated renewable energy solutions. We produced a thermal model for the building to ensure optimal energy efficiency, created a BRUKL report and ensured all work complied with Part L2 Building Regulations.
Challenges and Solutions
Adapting existing structures for use as a specialised record storage facility involved several challenges. Ensuring effective fire protection while safeguarding sensitive documents was a primary concern. EP Consulting addressed this by installing an FM200 extinguishing system, which suppresses fires without leaving residue or causing damage. Additionally, we optimised the mechanical and electrical layout to improve security and operational efficiency, carefully managing the conversion process to minimise disruption.
Results and Impact
The conversion was completed within 16 weeks and on budget. The newly transformed facility now provides Lincolnshire Police with a secure and efficient environment for record management. The FM200 system enhances fire safety, and the overall upgrade reflects EP Consulting’s dedication to delivering practical and effective solutions.
