£200k Installation of Heat Exchangers at R5 Pharmaceuticals
EP Consulting has successfully completed the £200,000 installation of cross plate heat exchangers during the refurbishment of the lower ground floor in the Laurus Building at BioCity.
Scope of Work
Our work involved installing cross plate heat exchangers to connect the existing steam and chilled water mains, facilitating isolated distribution of lower pressure hot and chilled water. We conducted feasibility studies, budget costing, and mechanical design, ensuring all work complied with Part L2 Building Regulations. This installation enhances the HVAC system’s efficiency and reliability.
Challenges and Solutions
Implementing the installation within a high-tech research facility required meticulous planning and adherence to a strict 12-week timeline. Our team’s detailed feasibility studies and budget planning ensured timely project completion. The mechanical design incorporated innovative solutions to seamlessly integrate the heat exchangers with existing infrastructure, optimising hot and chilled water distribution.
Results and Impact
The installation was completed on schedule and within budget, significantly upgrading the Laurus Building’s HVAC system. The new heat exchangers improve heating and cooling efficiency, supporting BioCity’s advanced research activities. This project highlights EP Consulting’s expertise in delivering specialised engineering solutions for complex facilities, reinforcing our reputation for excellence in the industry.
