Coventry Transport Museum Revitalisation
EP Consulting is proud to have contributed to the £3.8m Heritage Lottery Funded revitalisation of Coventry Transport Museum. This RIBA project was designed to breathe new life into the Museum, enhancing its appeal and functionality while preserving its rich heritage.
Scope of Work
Our role encompassed comprehensive feasibility studies, budget costing, and expert mechanical and electrical design. We engineered solutions for the upgrade of five exhibition galleries, the relocation of the museum shop, and the creation of new educational spaces and an updated entrance. Additionally, our team was instrumental in restoring the Grade 1 Listed 12th-century Old Grammar School, integrating it into the museum’s expanded offerings with new event and education spaces.
Challenges and Solutions
Balancing modern upgrades with historical preservation presented a unique challenge. EP Consulting delivered solutions which seamlessly integrated advanced mechanical and electrical systems with the museum’s historic fabric. We produced a thermal model for the building, created a BRUKL report and ensured compliance with Part L2 Building Regulations.
Results and Impact
Completed within 66 weeks, the Coventry Transport Museum now boasts a refreshed visitor experience and expanded facilities. This project underscores EP Consulting’s expertise in blending heritage with modernity, delivering sustainable and innovative engineering solutions that enhance the cultural and educational value of historic landmarks.
