Work Begins on £12m Endoscopy Unit Redevelopment at Queen’s Medical Centre
EP Consulting is proud to be delivering the mechanical and electrical (MEP) design services for the redevelopment and expansion of the endoscopy unit at Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), our local NHS hospital and part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).
This £12 million investment, jointly funded by NUH and NHS England, marks a transformational step in the Trust’s ability to deliver timely and complex diagnostic care to patients across the East Midlands. The upgraded unit will help reduce waiting times, increase procedure capacity, and significantly improve the environment for both patients and staff.
As a Nottingham-based business, EP Consulting is especially proud to support a project that enhances critical services within our own community—demonstrating our commitment to sustainable, future-proofed healthcare design in the public sector.
Delivering High-Performance Building Services for Modern Healthcare
Working closely with the wider design team, EP Consulting is providing specialist MEP design to support a modern, energy-efficient facility that complies with national healthcare ventilation and spatial standards. The redeveloped endoscopy unit is designed to support a higher volume of advanced procedures in a purpose-built clinical environment.
The expanded unit will feature:
- Three state-of-the-art endoscopy procedure rooms (increased from two)
- Patient-focused recovery and discharge areas
- Dedicated staff training and welfare facilities
- Compliant, energy-efficient M&E systems designed to support long-term sustainability
Strengthening Endoscopy Capacity in the East Midlands
The QMC endoscopy unit plays a vital regional role, not only serving patients at Nottingham University Hospitals but also providing complex procedures for referrals from surrounding trusts. This investment will strengthen QMC’s position as a centre of excellence for advanced endoscopic care and clinical training.
The project is being delivered by main contractor Henry Brothers, with architectural design by CPMG Architects. Construction is now underway, with the new facility scheduled to open in early 2026.
