EP Consulting Powers Loughborough’s Arts Hub Revival
EP Consulting is proud to be part of The Generator Project in Loughborough — a landmark regeneration scheme transforming a derelict 1930s building into a dynamic hub for creative industries, live performance, and community arts.
As the appointed mechanical and electrical design consultants, EP Consulting is delivering sustainable, energy-efficient building services that support the long-term vision of this vibrant new venue. The project is backed by a £1.6 million Loughborough Town Deal grant, reinforcing its importance as a catalyst for local regeneration and economic growth.
The historic site includes two connected buildings once used by Loughborough College — one a former electricity generator, the other an art college. The Frederick Street side, managed by Our Neighbourhood, has already welcomed local businesses and a thriving café, bakery, and florist. EP Consulting is contributing to the Packet Street section, led by The Generator CIC, where a large-capacity, multi-purpose cultural centre is taking shape.
When complete, the venue will feature a multimedia arts space, exhibition and performance areas, a café and restaurant, and flexible space for community use. The aim is to increase local access to arts, education, and business support, all within a low-carbon, sustainably designed environment.
This project showcases how strategic infrastructure and building services design can help bring cultural, social and economic value back to underused heritage buildings. It reflects EP Consulting’s ongoing commitment to engineering design that’s practical, future-ready, and community-focused.
