EP Consulting Completes Sustainable Alford Manor House Project

EP Consulting is proud to announce the successful completion of the £2.1 million refurbishment of Alford Manor House, supporting East Lindsey District Council in preserving one of Lincolnshire's most significant historic landmarks.

Built in 1611, Alford Manor House is the UK's largest thatched manor house and a Grade II* listed building. Our team delivered the mechanical and electrical (M&E) design, carefully integrating modern low-carbon technologies while respecting the building's historic character.

The project incorporates air source heat pumps, solar PV and energy-efficient heating systems, helping reduce carbon emissions while improving long-term sustainability. Balancing renewable energy with the conservation requirements of a listed building required a considered engineering approach throughout the design process.

The completed development provides a permanent event space, upgraded visitor facilities and improved accessibility, securing the future of Alford Manor House for generations to come. The investment will enhance the visitor experience while creating a flexible venue for community events, exhibitions and functions.
