"Jailbreak"

"Jailbreak"

Robert Pitchford’s daughter Alex (right) embarked on the annual “Jailbreak” for Rag Week from the University of Leeds, UK on 23 March 2015 with two of her fellow students.

Their mission was to reach the furthest destination from the University they could within 36 hours with no prior planning. They eventually reached Paris, France.

The purpose was to raise money for the charity Brain Research Trust based in London which conducts world-class research into neurological conditions and diseases.

EP Consulting were only too happy to contribute to this worthwhile cause.

Whitchurch Community Hospital, Shropshire

Works are complete for this £109k boiler replacement scheme for Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust.

The project included the installation of new boiler plant and associated flues, pumps, pipework in the plant room and connections into existing services distribution pipework, and boiler condense drainage. Within the plant room modifications to the mains cold water distribution pipework and existing gas pipework were required to suit the new plant layout, together with modifications to the existing Trend IQ3 Mechanical Services Control Panel and the provision of all necessary power and controls wiring.

The works also involved the removal of the existing six Keston gas fired boilers and mechanical equipment, flues, pipework, etc.

Biffa Land Speed Record Gallery Re-Opens

Following a 15 month refurbishment the Land Speed Record Gallery at Coventry Transport Museum re-opened to the public.

E P Consulting are proud of their involvement in this £3m Heritage Lottery Funded scheme to refurbish the existing Coventry Transport Museum to facilitate the redisplay of the exhibitions together with the conservation and refurbishment of the adjacent Grade 1 Listed 12th Century Old Grammar School in to an archive and multi-use events space.

Oakham Castle Restoration Project

Oakham Castle Restoration Project

E P Consulting has been appointed to produce the M&E designs for the second phase of the product supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the 12th Century Oakham Castle to create a cultural centre for Rutland.

The project will require a great deal of thought and consideration to ensure the M&E services are sympathetically designed to blend with the structure of the building.

The works consist of external and internal lighting solutions, services for a newly formed toilet block and storage facility together with the associated drainage and heating works, and an exhibition fit out to interpret the Castle and its history.

Part of the remit is to also ensure the future economic and environmental sustainability of the Castle.

New Recruit

New Recruit

We are pleased to welcome on board Mark Hobbs who joined the team as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer on 19 January 2015.

Mark has an MSc in Sustainable Design & Innovation and a Design BA (Hons) Class 2:2. He has experience of producing computer models and simulations using a range of software including AutoCAD and IES Virtual Environment. This includes SBEM Energy Assessments to generate BRUKL documents, EPC's and Daylight Calculations.

Mark’s main role will be to support the existing mechanical engineering design team with their projects whilst gaining a greater understanding of the building services industry requirements.

Bridgford Hall, Nottingham

Following our appointment as M&E consultants, designs are now progressing for the £1.2m refurbishment of this 1774 Grade 2 listed building for Rushcliffe Borough Council.

The works for the HLF funded project consist of the creation of a Registrars (Weddings, Births & Deaths, Nationality Checking) facility on the ground floor and serviced apartments on the first and second floors.

Vulcan Works Creative Industries, Northampton

Design work is ongoing for the conversion of this Grade 2 listed building within the Derngate Conservation Area of Northampton City Centre to form managed workspaces for creative industries offering business exhibition / demonstration space, office and studio units to creative SMEs, together with catering facilities.

Work on site is due commence in 2015 with completion expected by December 2016.

Anthropologie Marylebone High Street

The luxury retailer Anthropologie opened the doors of its seventh UK store on 5 December 2014.

The retailer, as its sister company Urban Outfitters, has gone for “all services exposed” as its design remit.

This is the fourth Anthropologie retail unit EP Consulting has completed the M&E design for, with designs ongoing for a further two units, both within London.

Guildford High School

Guildford High School

Work has commenced on the first phase of this £3m project at one of the country’s leading girl’s schools.

A new two-storey library and IT suite extension, together with refurbishment of the existing library, is now complete.

Designs are also ongoing for the new three-storey Recital and Rehearsal Hall with work expected to commence on site early 2015.
